Dr. Fanny Mlawer is a Doctoral Fellow in the process of pursuing licensure as a Clinical Psychologist. She has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and their families across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, medical centers (inpatient/outpatient), and schools. Fanny has experience providing individual, family, and group therapy, neuropsychological assessment, and consultation/liaison services in the medical/hospital setting.

Fanny has experience with a wide range of childhood and adolescent behavioral and emotional concerns, including behavioral and emotional outbursts, anxiety, picky eating, and coping with stressful life events. In addition, Fanny has particular expertise working with children and adolescents with neurodevelopment concerns (e.g. ADHD, Autism) and chronic medical conditions, as well as treating sleep difficulties, distress during medical appointments/procedures (e.g. injections/blood draws, imaging, dentist), treatment adherence (e.g. pill swallowing), feeding concerns, and parenting concerns/difficulties.

Fanny is passionate about providing high-quality, contextually-aware, and evidence-based care. She uses an integrative approach in her work, pulling from a variety of evidence-based therapies to create a treatment plan tailored to the needs of each individual or family. She commonly incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Behavioral Interventions such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Parent Management Training, and Behavioral Sleep Interventions.

Her approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. She strives to incorporate clients and families in treatment planning and goal setting, actively seeks and encourages feedback about aspects of therapy that are (or aren’t) working, and is excited to collaborate with other providers or stakeholders, including pediatricians, therapists (OT/PT/SLP), and schools. Fanny is neurodivergent affirming, committed to cultural humility, and accepting of all family constellations!

Fanny grew up in Sudbury, MA and earned her B.A. in Psychology from Williams College. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Delaware, where her research focused on peer relations, daily fluctuations in self-esteem in adolescence, and the impact of COVID-19 on adolescent mental health. She completed Pre-Doctoral Internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. In her free time, Fanny enjoys baking, various crafting endeavors, spending time with her dogs, and watching hockey (Go Bruins!).
